Elijah's Toddler Bed

We recently converted Elijah's crib into a toddler bed. He loves it. Unfortunately he also loves to come visit us in our room at all hours, 1 a.m., 3 a.m., 6 a.m., whenever he wakes up. Hopefully this transition will soon become normal and he will stay in his bed or at least in his room from the time we say night night until we go in to wake him in the morning.

August Fun

We have done a lot this summer. It amazes me everyday how quickly children change. Elijah is like a little sponge. Elijah learned how to blow his own bubbles. I can't believe my 2 year old can blow bubbles, however we go through them rather quickly when he is in control of them. This bubble session ended up with the water hose and Elijah was soaking wet after that.

Elijah loves riding bikes. Our landlord gave us a little girls bike that is way to big for Elijah but he loves to be pushed around the yard on it, so I thought lets try a smaller bike with training wheels. The only problem is, it is hard to teach a child how to peddle this way. So we went and got Elijah a tricycle. A tricycle is much better because the peddles move when the wheels move so the child can witness what to do. Elijah loves his tricycle!

Elijah loves to go to the pool, however he is not fond of the big pool, he likes the baby pool best. Well, we don't like to always be in the baby pool and after having swim lessons this past spring we have been trying everything to get Elijah to go in the big pool, but no luck. This next picture is Elijah with his new water wings on. He is actually trying to get hem off in this picture. Maybe next summer.
This last picture is one we took at Nolin Lake. Troy decided since gas is so cheap we would go on a Sunday drive. Anyway, this last picture of Elijah is of him sitting on a rock at a camp ground by the Lake. I think it is so cute. You have to be quick when taking pictures of a toddler!

Elijah's 2nd Birthday Party

Today we had Elijah's 2nd birthday party. It was much different from last years party, much smaller. This year we only invited immediate family and one friend. Troy says last years 1st birthday party was for mommy and this years party was for Elijah. I have to admit there was not as much stress that went along with this party. We only had cake and ice cream and then
opened presents. I have to say the cakes ended up being my favorite part of the party. I baked the cakes and Troy decorated them. As you can tell one is Elmo and the other one is Cookie Monster. They turned out great!

When it was time for Elijah to blow his candles out he had no idea what to do. I had to blow them out for him. I would suggest practicing next time. But when it came to opening his presents Elijah knew exactly what to do. He tore those suckers open. Over all I think it was a good time had by all.

This present, the microphone, is from Elijah's friend Ellie.

This last picture is of Elijah once we got home. Elijah's Mimi got him a big Tonka truck. This is not suppose to be a ride on toy, but as you can see Elijah thinks so. Funny boy.

Thomas the Tank Engine

We took Elijah to New Haven, Kentucky last Saturday.
We took him to see Thomas the Tank Engine.
We all had a really fun time.
Elijah got to meet Sir Topham hat and ride on a real Choo choo train.
We thought it was going to rain but it didn't and it wasn't too hot either.
The weather ended up being comfortable.

Elijah's surgery

Elijah had surgery this morning at Kosair Children's hospital. He had his adenoids removed and his second set of tubes put in. Elijah was a trooper! We had to be at the hospital by 6:30 this morning for 8:00 surgery. Once there the surgery was actually moved up to 7:30. The surgery went well and we were home by 9:50. We came home and all of us took a nap. Then around 1:00 Elijah was ready to eat and drink, he had 3 pancakes and drank several cups of juice. After eating he colored, ran around, and watched Elmo. Then around 3:30 he was ready for another nap. I can't believe how well he has done. Thank you for everyone that has prayed for us. Elijah is doing great now, but who know what is to come once the pain medicine wears off. But I am going to stay positive. Thanks again.

A work in progress

So there are several people I know that have started blogs. I have a web site (elijahbarnes.com)and am not too good at keeping that up, so who know about this. Anyway here I go. Please be patient with me as I try to do this sort of thing. I love to scrapbook but you won't find much writing in my scrapbooks, just pictures with short captions. Hopefully I'll be better at this being that I can do it anywhere and it doesn't require my whole slew of scrapbook materials. Basically this just requires a computer and some pictures.
